The search for occult hemoglobin in feces is a basic element  in mass colorectal cancer research. The first detection tests based on the chemical revelation of hemoglobin (gaiac tests) that give positive results: 50 to 60% for colorectal cancer cases and 25 to 30 % for polype cases.
Now the immunological tests enable to detect smaller amounts of hemoglobin.

HEMOTEST is an immunochromatographic test on a membrane that enables a rapid and simple detection of hemoglobin in feces. HEMOTEST does not react to either animal hemoglobin, to other peroxydases or vitamin C. it does not require a special diet during the days preceding the test. The feces samples that are kept in the dilution wad remain stable for 8 days in the refrigerator (2 to 8°C).
