- method BAILENGER: With this method, stools are diluted in an aquous phase and mixed with a lipidic solvant (ether). After centrifugation, we recover a lipid free pellet. With this method, acetic acid is used to adjust the solution to pH 7,5. This pH is well known to be the most adequate for parasite concentration.
- method MIF (Merthiolate - Iode Formol): This method is adequate to look for schistosoma and ascaris eggs as well as kysts of amoeba and flagella. It can also concentrate some amoebian trophozoïts such as Dientamoeba fragilis that are then easy to identify.
